iRidium for DigiBird
A set of tools to create control interfaces for equipment by DigiBird.
The documentation was updated on 15.3.2023
Use the following example of a project to learn about driver capabilities.
DigiBird is a company that produces solutions in the field of video switching. The company produces video wall controllers, hybrid matrix switches, and AV complex control systems.
DigiBird HMX2-E is a hybrid modular matrix switcher that supports seamless switching of 4K60 sources with up to 160 inputs and 160 outputs.
iRidium для DigiBird allows the control panel (iOS, Android, Windows, Mac) to connect to DigiBird video switching equipment and control it via i3 pro application.
Tested with equipment:
Connection
In matrix switching (Matrix) mode, HMX2-E automatically adjusts the output resolution to the display device when switching signal sources. This provides flexibility for solutions that require the use of multiple display devices.
The driver controls source switching only in Matrix mode.
Thanks to the integrated Video Wall function, in addition to independent switching between input signal sources and displays, HMX2-E can be used as a powerful tool for configuring layouts and video wall sources, supporting 2 layers of images on a single display.
Installation of the DB-HMX2-E-OC-IP1 output card enables the broadcasting of an RTSP stream for further display of source previews in the i3Pro visualization project.
Data processing is carried out by FPGA microchips, which eliminates the possibility of system shutdown and virus infiltration. The device will protect itself from any damage in case of an unexpected power outage. In addition, the redundant power supply increases reliability by automatically switching to operation mode when the main power supply failure.
Work in iRidium
Create a new project and add Digibird driver to it with the help of a scanner or entering data manually.
Network scanning
Network scanning allows you to quickly find all Digibird devices on the local network. To do this you need to:
- Create a new project and press the Scan > Digibird Scanner button on the Devices tab;
- Fill in the IP address of the equipment
- Select the device to add to the project.
If the scanner can't find equipment, you can enter the driver settings manually:
Setting Driver
1 Add Digibird driver in the Devices tab to a created project:
2 Enter the driver connection settings:
- Log Level - the level of logging;
- Host - IP-address of the equipment;
- Update Time - frequency of requests to equipment (ms.);
- Driver Version - a version of a driver.
3 In the device settings, specify the Device ID - unique ID of a device (specified in the DigiBird app under the Device Mgt > Device Info > Device id tab).

The Channel switch commands have two additional parameters:
- In - input channel,
- Out - output channel.
The influence of the settings on the values sent to the channel:
- If the Value parameter is selected, the value that is sent through the channel will be directed to either In or Out;
- If the constant values (1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9/etc) are selected, the value sent through the channel is disregarded, and the data is retrieved from the settings parameters (In / Out);
- If the parameters in = value / out = const are selected, the sent value will be directed to the input channel (In), and the constant value (1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9/etc) will be directed to the output channel (Out);
- If the parameters in = const / out = value are selected, the sent value will be directed to the output channel (Out), and the constant value (1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9/etc) will be directed to the input channel (In).
Feedback has an additional parameter:
- Channel - the input number from which the status should be obtained.
The types of all commands and feedbacks are described below.
Setting Commands and Feedback Channels
To control equipment it is required to set commands (Commands) and feedback channels (Feedbacks). To send a command, drag'n'drop it on a graphic item and enter a value to send. To display feedback value drag'n'drop a feedback channel on a graphic item and choose how to output or display a value.
Read more about work with graphic items in the
"Types of graphic items" article.
Commands
The command is attached to the graphic item indicating the value (Value) to be transferred to the equipment when the graphic item is clicked.
