Fast start of the project with i3 lite server
Manual for creating projects in i3 lite
In this manual you will learn how to create a project in i3 lite to control equipment through HDL IntelliCenter2 / UMC C3 / UMC C4.
In the project the following equipment is used:
- HDL (the bus is connected to server directly)
- relay
- dimmer
- DLP panel
- DLP panel (AC, FH)
- KNX (the bus is connected to server directly)
- Sonos (local network)
- IP Camera (local network)
Set up routines to control music in Sonos player from DLP buttons of HDL panel.
Installing i3 lite App
Install a current version of i3 lite app.
iRidium lite app is available for the following platforms:
To work in the app you must be a registered user. If you do not have an account on our website, follow this link and register as an installer.
Connection HDL IntelliCenter2 / UMC C3 / UMC C4
- Connect HDL IntelliCenter2 / UMC C3 / UMC C4 to your local net with a router with the help of Ethernet-cable to LAN port, supply 24 V power.
- Supply 24 V power.
- Wait for about 30 seconds after the power supply, a green LED PWR must be lit. The server is ready for work.
Creation and setting a project
- Start i3 lite app.
- On the Welcome page enter your e-mail and password that you used at registration. Press “Sign in”. The next window shows created projects.
- Press "New project" and enter project name.
- The next window shows connection to a server. Select "Project without server".
The window where you get first of all is called “Config”.
Attention! Make sure, that you use an actual version of the app. Look at the app version in “Config”. To learn an actual version, look here on our website
- Create floors and rooms in the project to set up the object structure and widgets location to control devices. Create one room and call it, for example “Office”.
Connection server to the project
- Go to “Server” tab in “Config”.
- Press “Select server”. Select yours.
Attention!Make sure, that you use an actual version of the server. Look at the version in “Server” tab.
- To update a server, click “Update”. You will see auto update settings and update time settings. If “Update now” is active, click it to update automatically.
- After updating click “Activate” to activate the server for using it in the project.
- During the activation the current project will be uploaded to the server.
Adding modules
- Go to “Devices” tab in “Config”.
- Add a device with the help of
button.
- Select “Manually from store” to get to iRidium store.
Adding HDL Interface module
Open iRidium store and search “HDL Interface”. Choose the module.
Adding HDL Relay through HDL Interface
In HDL Interface module click in the right upper corner to add HDL device. Click “Add Manually”, to add a device manually. Select Relay in the list and enter settings.
Adding HDL Dimmer through HDL Interface
In HDL Interface module click in the right upper corner to add HDL device. Click “Add Manually”, to add a device manually. Select Dimmer in the list and enter settings.
Adding HDL DLP Panel (AC, FH)
Open iRidium store. Search “HDL DLP Panel” and select HDL DLP Panel (AC, FH).

- Open iRidium store. Search “HDL DLP Panel” and select HDL DLP Panel.
- Set parameters of the module:
- Click to add the button. Select “Button” and set its parameters. Call it Button Play:
- Repeat the actions to add the second button - Button Stop.
- Select buttons’ location.
Adding KNX Interface module
Here is the detailed information how to add and set KNX Interface module.
Adding KNX Relay module through KNX Interface
In KNX Interface module click in the right upper corner to add KNX device. Click “Add Manually”, to add a device manually. Select Relay in the list and enter the settings.
Adding Sonos module
- Sonos module has no settings. You can use only a scanner by clicking in the right upper corner.
- Select your device and click “Add Devices”, to add it.
Select its location.
Adding Camera Wizard module
- Open iRidium store and search Camera Wizard module.
- Add it in the project by clicking in the upper right corner.
- Enter a brand name or click “Add manually”, to set the camera manually.
- Enter the link to your camera and click “Done”.
Device report
In “Devices” tab we see, that there are 6 modules in the project.
You can get detailed information about devices in “General” tab, “Project report” section.
If you click “More”, you will see the detailed report about each device.
There are commercial and free devices. They are different. Free devices are not limited by a license. Your license counts only commercial subdevices.
Connection devices through routines
Let’s have a look how to set up Sonos player by clicking HDL button. Let’s take simple actions - turning on and off. Interaction is implemented through logic routines. Most of the routines are created to use on the server, as they work on the server, when the server is on, even if the app is off. A local routine works on panels as long as i3 lite app is launched.
- Create the first server routine. Call it “Play” - it will turn on Sonos player by clicking a button on HDL panel.
WHEN - select the required button on HDL panel and choose “Press” event.
DO - select Sonos player and choose “Play” event.
- Create the second server routine. Call it “Stop” - it will turn off Sonos player by clicking a button on HDL panel.
- Set the created routine:

DO - select Sonos player and choose “Stop” event.
- To activate routines, they should be sent to the server. Click “Make public” at the bottom of the screen.
- The project is created. Check, if music starts or stops in Sonos player, when clicking the buttons on DLP panel.
Visual part of the project
Click “Three dots” button in the right upper corner, and select “Room Editor”
Adding headers
Select “Add Header” in “Room Editor” and enter the name.
Adding images
Select “Add Photo” in “Room Editor” and choose the required image.
Adding column breaks
Select “Add column break”. Columns breaks are not seen in the usual mode, but it allows to drag and drop items to another column.
Changing widgets order
Select “Edit mode” in “Room Editor”. With this button 
clicked, you can drag and drop widgets.
Possible problems with i3 lite:
If there is no connection to a server
- Make sure, that the server is available from the current device. To check it, ping the control panel. If there is no ping - check network settings.
- Make sure, that you installed i3 lite, not i3 pro on the server. To check it, enter in the browser address line "server ip address:8443", for example, "192.168.0.20:8443". Then you’ll see security warning, confirm an insecure connection. If you see "Access denied" on white background, it means that i3 lite is installed on your server. But if you see a window to enter a password on blue background, it means, that i3 pro is installed on the server (server reflashing is demanded).
- If you see an error when activating a server: make sure, that the server has access to the Internet.
- If there is no server connection after turning on remote control, make sure that it’s been more than 2-3 minutes since launching a project. It takes some time to connect to Cloud for the first time.
KNX/HDL interfaces do not work
- Make sure, that server activation and project synchronization were successful, without errors.
- Check, that you chose the required mode in “Config”, “Server” tab, in “Type of work” section. Make sure, that the project is synchronized (there is no “Make public” button at the bottom of the page).
- If you use UMC server as HDL gateway, HDL IP gateway is not demanded (only one device send commands from the bus in IP network).
