Forward value to. Forwarding values.
It's a tool in iRidium studio that sends a value from one tag to another one.
"Forwarding value to" works only in a server project.
documentation was updated on 12.5.2020
A new capabiliy appeared in iRidium to send a value from a feedback channel to a command channel and visa versa with the help of the new tag property - Forwarding value to. The tool allows to exclude from a project functions realized via script and give it a comprehensive graphical from with an intuitive interface.
Description of Work
Forwarding value to creates a connection between a command and a feedback channel of a driver. It does not depend on the type of a driver (it can work in Virtual driver). When a link to another tag is added a connection is created between the tags, and this connection sends a value the moment itis written in the source.
IMPORTANT!Forwarding does not work with system or project tokens.
IMPORTANT!For forwarding to work, select On Server - True in the server properties section of the channel/feedback channel properties.
Forwarding can be added in several ways:
1 With the help of drag'n'drop of the source-tag to the area of target-tag opposie it
If the tag is drap'n'dropped on the field that it filled in, it's value is changed to the new one.
2 With the help of double-click on the source-tag. A dialogue window appears with a selection of tag where to forward a value.
3 By selecting Forward value to in tag properties and selecting a path to the tag where a value must be forwarded.
Use of Script Modifier
Script Modifier can be used when forwarding a value from one tag to another one. This tag property allows to modify the current value to another value with the help of a function. For example, light values in the 0-100 range to values in the 0-255 range.
You can read more about modifications on ther server here
1 Set forwarding a command value to a feedback channel of another device (Virtual driver is used in the example, a value is forwarded from its command to its own feedback channel).
2 Create a script in the Script editor and write a function (a function to convert 0-100 range to 0-255 range is used in the example). Save it.
function from100to255 (in_Type, in_Name, in_Value)
{
in_Value *= 255/100;
return in_Value;
}
3 Select a function in the Script Modifier line. From100to255 function is selected in the example.
4 Convert a server project into a panel one. Click right mouse button on the name of a server project and select "Create panel project" in the drop down menu.
5 Create a Level (with 0-100 range) in a panel project and drag'n'drop a command on it. Forward a feedback channel of the driver where we'll see a value after modification (in Values, enter $V in the text field)
6 Start a server and a panel project. Now you can see the 0-100 value of a level convert into 0-255.
Deletion
Forwarding can be deleted in several ways:
1 Click the bucket icon in the settings of Forwarding value to
2 Select a required item in the driver tree and click Delete.
