Activating HDL/IP gateway

HDL gateway is connection between LAN port and RS485 (HDL): when HDL/IP gateway of the device is on, devices in the RS485 bus can exchange data with devices in the Ethernet as if they were in one bus. UDP protocol used on the side of the Ethernet-network.

Work of HDL/IP-gateway is possible only on devices with HDL interface:

• iRidium server UMC C3,
• HDL IntelliCenter 2 (iRidium server UMC C4).

Method 1

The easiest way to activate the mode of HDL/IP-gateway is in the Server tab of i3 lite config.

There must be no modules for HDL in i3 lite project. Without these modules a server works only as a gateway and can't control HDL Buspro devices directly.

Method 2

The second way is to install HDL IP Gateway module in i3 lite config.

In this case you can install any HDL modules, a server can control devices in the HDL bus.

1 Go on Device tab.

2 Press "Add device".

3 Press "Manually from store".

4 You need “HDL IP Gateway”.

5 Press on “HDL IP Gateway” and get information about it. Add the gateway to the project.

6 Press "Hardware".

7 Select "HDL IntelliCenter2".

8 Press "Add".

Now “HDL IP Gateway” is in the list of devices.

Adding HDL Devices

1 Go on Server tab.

2 Select UMC C4 server.

3 Server is activated.

4 Go on Device tab.

5 Press "+" button (add device).

6 Select HDL Scanner.

7 Scanner shall found all HDL devices, you may select required ones and press "Add devices".

8 Selected devices are in project.
