Module solutions: driver + i3 pro interface
How to use ready visualizaton in control interfaces
Types of ready solutions
Numerous devices, services and systems offer interaction capabilities that require complicated realization on the side of the i3 pro. For example, a multiroom system by Sonos allows to control sound sources, the volume of the sound, to select tracks to play in different rooms and to set sound. A user deals with these capabilities via an interface, developing which is a laborious process.
Ready solutions as a driver, logics and interface:
- Pro interface-modules
interface-modules on iRidium mobile web-site, in "JS MODULES" section are regular "pro" interfaces the appearance of which can be edited to suit your interface. Usually, the script and basic drivers of a module can also be edited. Some modules are commercial
- Lite widget-modules
A catalogue of MODULES is available in iRidium studio. Module-widgets originally developed for i3 lite from the catalogue. Widgets realize an interface and a driver, but unlike "pro" modules, their appearance and contents can't be edited. Once you set the connection parameters of a widget it is used "as it is" without a capability to change its appearance. Only the location of a widget can be changed. To use these modules i3 lite license is not required, only drivers used in the interface are considered.
- Solutions by community
Our support forum can help you to find a ready solution, as iRidium intergrators often share their variants of interfaces and scripts to solve different tasks there. These solutions can be used as "pro" modules from point 1.
If you use a iRidium server in your project, i3 lite module-widget can't be uploaded on the server, it will connect to equipment directly from i3 pro.
Interface-modules, created fro pro can basically be uploaded on the server, but a lot depends on the structure of each particular module and your programming skills. As part of module logic can be responsible for interface work, and another part - for connection wth equipment. And these parts will have to be divided between different apps. It may take time and require good programming skills.
Pro interface-modules
Let's call a pro-module any interface (file of *.irpz format) for i3 pro, containing logic, drivers and see how such modules can be added to a visualization interface that you are developing.
How to add pro-module to a interface for i3 pro:
- Download an interface module in *.irpz format from iRidium mobile web-site and open it in iRidium studio
- Open in iRidium studio a recepient interface where a module must be added
- Drag'n'drop the module tab on the tab of the recepinet interface
- If the iRidium studio shows an error saying that names of drivers, scripts or popups are repeated, correct it. To do it, rename pages, scripts and drivers in the recepient interface. Do not rename anything in a module, as module logic is often based on the names of its pages and popups. If they are changed, the module may cease functioning. The same interactions in a recepient interface are easier to find and correct.
Lite widget-modules
Lite-module is a popup-interface (widget) with a hidden driver and logic. It can be added to your interface and opened when required. But nothing can be changed in the appearacne or logic. Lite-widget can be added via MODULES panel in iRidium studio. Some commands of a widget can be available apart from widget in other parts of an interface or logic.
Lite-widget is required, if you could not find a ready solution for i3 pro, but you saw support of a required device in i3 lite. It's also convenient to use in i3 pro, modules for multimedia equipment with numerous functions that take a long time to create on your own.
Lite-widgets for professional automation systems (KNX, HDL, ...) are not recommended to use in i3 pro, as they have no advantage over built-in drivers: the interface of a ready module can easily be created by you in i3 pro soon after you start working with iRidium.
Setting Lite-modules is done in i3 lite app: the app opens in config mode after pressing "+" in the MODULES tab in iRidium studio:
- Select "Devices" "Config" menu
- Click "+" next to Devices in the setting window that appeared
- Select a way to add a module:
- by scanning the local net
- by adding manually from the catalogue
- Select a module and add it. Enter required settings; if it is necessary change the name that will be displayed on a widget
- Go back to "Config" window (the main page to setting) and click "Save & Close project". The configuration of a module is completed
- iRidium studio offers to "reload a project from a disk". SelectReload and all your data will be saved. Now lite-module is added to your interface.
Contents of lite-module:
- Actions are a list of commands available to use in an interface outside lite-module. For example, there is "turn on" button on a widget of the module. "Turn on" command may be available in Actions and it can be assigned to a button of your interface outside the module, and it will function like a widget button.
- Widjets are popups available to use the same way as usual popups of your interface
- Tags are feedback channels that are used on corresponding widgets and are available to use in an interface
