General information
KNX IP Interface is an interface to connect device to the KNX bus via IP with automatic storage of group address values.
- It supports up to 8 KNXnet/IP Tunneling connections simultaneously.
- It enables group monitoring and bus monitoring, setting devices from ETS5 (it supports a max ADPU length up to 255).
- It solves a problem of "storms" in the bus when visualization and servers get connected, with storing 1000 group addressed in violate memory.
- It increases the speed of getting statuses by 2.5-3 times thanks to storing 1000 group addresses.
- Storing group addresses is automatic and it does not require any setting (it can be turned off in ETS5).
Warranty period: 24 months.
The interface is powerd from a separate power source, 24V DC (power from the bus is not allowed). The interface is connected to via LAN (IP).
The device gets the IP-address via DHCP. It is recommended to set a static IP-address with the help of ETS5.
System of Storing Values of Group Addresses
KNX IP Interface is the first interface with automatic storage of group addresses. No additional protocols are used for storage. Data are availabel to any device that is connected via KNXnet/IP Tunneling.
The storage function is turned on by default. It can be turned off in ETS5.
The storage can contain up to 1000 recordings (1 recording is a unique group address and its value). If data about more than 1000 group addresses come from the bus, new recordings will automatically replace old ones. That's why it is recommended to use up to 1000 group addresses in projects.
The interface stores only answers from bus devices to a Read request of a group address and messages about value changes that are generated by devices.
When the interface is turned on, it does not request the bus, but it gathers data during its work. The more time from the start is gone, the larger the base the interface can gather.
The first connection of the app or a visualization server causes some workload on the bus, if the memory of the interface does not contain all requested addresses. After collecting data, the interface will answer Read requests with values from the memory, thus reducing the load on the bus. You will see requests each time in the ETS monitor connected to the interface, but the requests won't go to the bus, the interface answers the requests.
We recommend that you turn off the storage function on the comissioning stage. When the storage function is on, the interface answers Read requests instead of devices. You can determine that a device is no longer available only by the discrepancy between the real value and the answer.
When the power is turned off, the table of values is cleared as it is no longer up to date.

⚠ WARNING
- Installation and comissioning must be done by a qualified electrician.
- When installing keep safety rules and standards of a corresponding country.
- Do not open the body of the device.
- Do not use the device in systems dealing with security of people, animals, values, as well as in systems which failure will lead to security breach.
⚠ If the Mode diode blinks red and the device is not available in the IP-network
KNX IP Interface with default settings gets an IP-address only via DHCP. If the address can't be received, the device can not work with IP-network and it signals about it with a blinking red diode. Consult the administrator on your IP-network to get DHCP address for the device.
⚠ If the device loses setings after power is turned off
KNX IP Interface has a power source (CR1220 battery), that provides storage of settings. After several years of use, the battery may require changing. If the device is reset to default settings after power is turned off, it means that the battery requies changing.
If the warranty period is not over, send the device to the manufacturer (contact@iridiummobile.ru) to change the battery. If you open the body of the device yourself during the warranty period, you lose the warranty.
If the warranty period is over, send the device to the manufacturer (contact@iridiummobile.ru) to change the battery at a fee or consult a qualified specialist.

- Connect the device to IP-network without connecting power: insert one patch cord of a network cable into the LAN jack of the device and insert the other patch cord into the network router. The router must support DHCP – before a static IP-address is set, the device can get an IP-address only automatically.
- Connect the device to a two-wire KNX bus with the help of red and black KNX TP terminal without connecting power.
- Connect 24 V DC from a separate power supply as shown in the scheme. The power supply does not go with the device. It is possible to connect a 30 V power supply.
- Wait for about 30 seconds till the Mode diode lights up green. The device is ready to work.

Setting Static IP-address
By default KNX IP Interface gets an IP-address via DHCP. If DHCP is turned off on your router, turn it on, otherwise the device can't get an IP-address and the will be no connection.
If a light diode blinks red it means that there is an error in getting an IP-address.
How to change the IP-address of the device to a static one:
- Connect KNX IP Interface to the IP-network and to the KNX bus.
- Open or create a ETS5 project with an IP-line.
- Import file databases for KNX IP Interface to the ETS5 Catalogue panel.
- Add KNX IP Interface from the Catalogue panel to Devices.
- Choose KNX IP Interface in the Devices panel and open the "IP" tab in the Properties window.
- Activate "Use static IP-address" mode and fill in the settings (see image).
- Click right mouse button on KNX IP Interface in the Devices panel and Upload configuration.
Example of setting a staric IP-address for KNX IP Interface in ETS5:
Setting up a physical address on the KNX IP Interface
You can set a physical address for the required device on the KNX bus according to the following instructions:
1 Connect the KNX IP Interface to the IP network and the KNX bus.
2 Open or create an ETS5 project with an IP line.
3 Import file databases for KNX IP Interface in the ETS5 panel Catalog.
4 Add KNX IP Interface from the Catalog panel to the Devices panel.
5 Click left mouse button on the "iRidium KNX IP interface" device.
6 Go to "Properties" > "Settings".
7 Set a required physical address for the device.
Note: When assigning a physical address, it is important to consider that the next 8 addresses after the assigned one will be occupied by the KNX IP Interface tunnels. (For example, if the KNX IP Interface is assigned the physical address 1.1.30, addresses 1.1.31 - 1.1.38 will be occupied by its tunnels.).
8 Click the right mouse button on the KNX IP Interface in the Devices panel and perform the Load Configuration.
How to Turn off the Function of Storing Values of Group Addresses
By default the function of automatic storage of group addresses is turned on. It means that when the bus sends a message that a group address has changed, the interface remembers this value. And when a visualization client is connected to the interface, if gives this value without sending a request to the bus. It reduces greatly "storms" and allows to get values very fast.
If it is required to delete saved values from the interface, restart the interface by turning off power or deactivate the function to store values with the help of ETS5.
It may be required to turn off the storage function or to reset values if you want to send a request to the bus every time, for example, if you are looking for a device that stopped responding and the saved value does not allow you to find it. It is not recommended to turn off the storage function in regular work.
How to turn on storing values of group addresses:
