    iRidium for Panasоnic PTZ

    A set of tools to control Panasonic cameras.

    The documentation was last updated on 12.12.2022

    Description

    iRidium for Panasоnic PTZ is a set of tools that allows to create an interface to conrol Panasonic cameras.

    Tested equipment:

    • AW-UE40WEJ.

    Connection

    iRidium connects to equipment (IP-cameras supporting Panasonic protocol) via a local network. Interaction with equipment is done by means of HTTP requests.

    Work in iRidium

    Create a new project add Panasonic PTZ driver to the project in the Devices tab.

    Driver Setting

    Enter the driver connection settings:

    Panasonic4.jpeg
    • Log Level - the level of logging;
    • Host - IP-address of the camera;
    • Port - port;
    • Login / Password - login and password to access a camera;
    • Wait for Connect (ms) - time to wait for connection;
    • Wait for Data (ms) - time to wait for feedback from equipment;
    • SSL - a type of encrypting;
    • Update Time - frequency of requests to equipment (ms.).

    Setting Commands and Feedback Channels

    SendRecieve.png

    To control equipment it is required to set commands (Commands) and feedback channels (Feedbacks). To send a command, drag'n'drop it on a graphic item and enter a value to send. To display feedback drag'n'drop a feedback channel on a graphic item and choose how to output or display a value.

    Read more about work with graphic items in the "Types of graphic items" article.

    Commands

    Commands are assigned to graphic items indicating the value to be sent to the bus when clicking on the items. When adding a driver all commands are created automatically, no additonal setting is reqiured.

    The coordinates and directions are for ceiling mounting of the camera.

    Relative Position

    Move the camera to the Relative Position value from the current position. The display area can be represented as a graph of a function. The start point for PAN and TILT is 32768, Relative Position is set as a step for the camera, where the start point does not change.

    Important: both coordinates are set first and only then sent to the equipment. So the Relative Position Pan and Relative Position Tilt values are set first, then the Relative Position Set command is sent with any value to apply the specified coordinates.

    In the example, for each step the camera moves 6144 to the left (PAN) and 9836 to the top (TILT):

    • Position 1 - 32768 / 32768 (PAN/ TILT),
    • Position 2 - 32768 + 6144 = 38912 (PAN) / 32768 - 8736 = 22932 (TILT),
    • Position 3 - 38912 + 6144 = 45056 (PAN) / 22932 - 8736 = 13104 (TILT).

    The same step adds a value to the current coordinate, shifting it by the same value.

    Panasonic5.png

    Position 1 - Camera start point
    Pan - 0 Tilt - 32768

    Position 2 - Camera position after applying the step (Relative Position Set)
    Relative Position Pan - 38912
    Relative Position Tilt - 22932
    Relative Position Set - any

    Position 3 - Camera position after applying the step x2 (Relative Position Set)
    Relative Position Pan - 45056
    Relative Position Tilt - 13104
    Relative Position Set - any

    Absolute Position

    Set the camera position. The display area can be represented as a graph of a function, where the camera position is set by two coordinates - PAN and TILT.

    Important: both coordinates are set first and only then sent to the equipment. So the Relative Position Pan and Relative Position Tilt values are set first, then the Relative Position Set command is sent with any value to apply the specified coordinates.

    We recommend using the action by Release.

    Panasonic6.png

    Position 1 - set the camera position to the upper right corner of the available range
    Set the pan coordinate (0) and tilt coordinate (0), then send the request to the camera
    Absolute Position Pan - 0
    Absolute Position Tilt - 0
    Absolute Position Set - any

    Position 2 - set the camera lower (by 75%) and to the left (by 25%)
    Set the pan coordinate (16384) and tilt coordinate (16384), then send the request to the camera
    Absolute Position Pan - 16384
    Absolute Position Tilt - 49152
    Absolute Position Set - any

    Position 3 - set the camera lower (by 25%) and to the left (by 75%)
    Set the pan coordinate (16384) and tilt coordinate (16384), then send the request to the camera
    Absolute Position Pan - 49152
    Absolute Position Tilt - 16384
    Absolute Position Set - any

    Continious Movement

    The display area can be represented as a graph of a function that specifies the speed of movement in a certain direction for PAN and TILT. 50 is the stop point of the camera and the minimum value for the speed of movement in the direction of PAN and TILT.

    Important: first, the speed of movement in a certain direction is set for PAN and TILT and then is sent to the equipment. So first the value Continuous Movement Pan and/or Continuous Movement Tilt is set, then the Continuous Movement Set command is sent with any value to apply the set values. To stop the movement, the value 50 is sent to PAN and/or TILT and the Continuous Movement Set command is sent with any value.

    Panasonic7.png

    PAN = 1 - The camera moves to the left at the maximum speed
    PAN = 49 - The camera moves to the left at the minimum speed
    PAN = 51 -The camera moves to the right at the minimum speed
    PAN = 99 - The camera moves to the right at the maximum speed

    TILT = 1 - The camera moves down at the maximum speed
    TILT = 49 - The camera moves down at the minimum speed
    TILT = 51 - The camera moves up at the minimum speed
    TILT = 99 - The camera moves up at the maximum speed

    Example of the Right button on the Joystick in the interface:

    Panasonic8.png

    1 When the button is pressed the average speed of movement to the right is set (PAN = 75), which corresponds to the commands:

    Panasonic9.png

    2 When the button is released the camera stops (PAN = 50), which corresponds to the commands:
