Astronomic timer
Manual on setting astronomic timers in i3 lite.
Attention! iRidium server is required to work with astronomic timers.
Astronomic timer is developed to create schedules and routines connected with sunrise and sunset. For example, you want to create a schedule that turns on outside lighting at sunset and turns it off at sunrise.
A simple photo relay can be used in this case, but it has some disadvantages:
- the state of a photo-sensor must be monitored (if it is dirty, the light will be on in the daytime too)
- if flare light appears, lighting won't turned on when it is required
- light can't be turned on in advance or with a delay with respect to the luminosity level
An astronomic timer does not have these disadvantages.
Internet access is not required to work with an astronomic timer.
Setting of Coordinates
Setting of coordinates is required to calculate the sun angle in the location of the project and can be done in two ways: GPS or manual entry. If a device has a built-in GPS tracker, point 1 in the settings can be skipped.
1 To define the coordinates, use the following resource https://www.suncalc.org/.
Enter your location on the map and learn the coordinates.
2 Enter the coordinates in i3 lite.
2.1 Enter i3 lite config and go to the "General" tab.
2.2 Choose "Location" and set coordinates with the help of GPS or manually.
Integer values of degrees are entered.
If a mobile device does not have a GPS-tracker, you can enter location only manually.
Use of Astronomic Timer
An astronomic timer is used in Routines (only for a server) or Schedules that are later on used in Routines. Here are some examples of work with an astronomical timer.
Example 1. Turn on a device at sunrise
Let's create an astronomic timer to turn on a media device at sunrise.
1 Go to the Routines section of the config and create a new routine for the server.
2 Add an even in the "WHEN" setting, Day&Time, It's sunrise.
3 Add an action to turn on a device in the DO setting. Then select a device and a command.
Routine №2. Turn on lighting relay in night time
Two tools are used in this example: a Schedule (here we choose a period of time from sunset to sunrise) and a Routine (to control light relay).
1 Go to the Schedules tab in the config and create a new Schedule.
2 Set the start (sunset) and the end (sunrise) of the schedule. Choose in the Time section a corresponding start and end event.
As a result, you get a schedule with a period of work from sunset to sunrise.
3 If it is required you can set repetition of the schedule in the Repetition setting.
4 Go to the Routines section of the config and create a new routine for the server.
5 Add the created Schedule in the "WHEN" setting. Then "Start" for the event to work at the start of the schedule.
6 Choose an event to turn on a light relay in the "DO" setting.
