iRidium for WyreStorm
A set of tools to create control interfaces for equipment by WyreStorm.
The documentation was updated on 12.5.2023
WyreStorm Technologies is a leading manufacturer of 4K and Full HD AV signal distribution solutions for commercial and home markets.
iRidium for WyreStorm allows the control panel (iOS, Android, Windows, Mac) to connect to WyreStorm video switching equipment and control it via i3 pro application.
Tested with equipment:
- WyreStorm NHD-000-CTL is an innovative control interface. Thanks to this the Network HD series of devices has become the simplest and fastest AV-over-IP system to set up.
- WyreStorm NHD-110-TX is a low-bandwidth 1080p HD H.264/H.265 AVoIP encoder with support for non-blocking switching
- WyreStorm NHD-110-RX is a low-bandwidth 1080p HD H.264 / H.265 AVoIP decoder with support for non-blocking switching and video wall functionality (up to 16x16).
Installation and Connection
- Install NHD devices to ensure air circulation through the product. WyreStorm recommends the NHD-000-RACK4 rack mount kit. Mounting location should be dry, well ventilated and guaranteed to maintain the mandatory operating temperature range of the product.
- Connect sources to NetworkHD encoders with an HDMI cable from a quality brand like WyreStorm Essentials, providing a reliable connection to the port.
- Connect HDMI displays to NetworkHD decoders with an HDMI cable from a quality brand like WyreStorm Essentials, ensuring a reliable connection to the port.
- Connect encoders, decoders and NetworkHD CTLs to the network switch using a cable with good termination and a tested category, while ensuring IEEE 802.3ab compliance (for CTL, encoder and decoder 1GbE ports).
- If it is necessary connect the RS-232 decoder port to the equipment according to the RS-232 outputs section in the relevant brief manual.
NetworkHD console configuration
In addition to the steps described below more information about the setting you can find in the NetworkHD installation instructions.
- Make sure that a correctly configured network switch has been pre-installed. The manuals are available on the website WyreStorm.
- Connect the Window™ based computer to the same LAN/VLAN as the NetworkHD component. Make sure that its IP address is on the same subnet as the NetworkHD IP addresses (169.254.x.x by default). Make sure that the DHCP server will not allocate addresses. The NHD-000-CTL «AV» port is set to a static address by default 169.254.1.1 — do not choose this address for your PC.
- Turn on the NHD-000-CTL by connecting it to a PoE switch or using the supplied DC power adapter.
- Turn on NHD devices by connecting the device to a PoE switch or using the additional PSU-12V-1A power adapter, which can be purchased separately.
- After downloading all the devices, open the WyreStorm control package (available on the website WyreStorm), launch the NetworkHD console software and click «Search». Note: If devices are not detected, make sure that the encoders/decoders, CTL and PC are in the same subnet area and in the same CTL «AV» port range. Disable or create an exception for the NetworkHD console in the Windows firewall or any third-party firewall/malware/antivirus software.
- Set up the system according to the instructions in the installation instructions NetworkHD. Right-click on the 400 Series device to view the available options, including the device's IP address setting and alias setting. You will also find other configuration parameters in the «Package Settings» window. Note: If you plan to use a third-party control system with the WyreStorm driver for NetworkHD, encoders must use the alias prefix IN1, IN2, etc. This also applies to decoders, OUT1, OUT2, etc. For example, IN1-Satellite receiver 1.
- Load the configuration into the NHD-000-CTL by right-clicking on CTL in the «Other Devices» section and selecting «Load».
- Configure scaling and HDCP values for each decoder according to the requirements of the content and display, using the parameters located on the «Video» tab on the «Batch Settings» screen.
Work in iRidium
Create a new project and add the WyreStorm driver using a scanner или manual data entry.
The driver connects to the CTL controller and controls the equipment through it. If there is no control of the equipment, check the connection to the controller.
Network scanning
Network scanning allows you to quickly find all WyreStorm devices on the local network. To do this:
- Create a new project and click on Scan > WyreStorm Network Scanner on the Devices tab;
- Fill in the settings to find the device on the network:
- IP-address - the IP-address of equipment;
- Port - port (23 by default);
- Password - the password for the secure Telnet connection (set on the CTL web-interface in the Contoller Settings tab);
- Select the device to add to the project.
If the scanner can't find equipment, you can enter the driver settings manually:
Driver Setting
1 Add WyreStorm driver in the Devices tab to a created project:
2 Enter the driver connection settings:
- Log Level - a level of logging;
- Host - the IP-address of equipment;
- Port - port (23 by default);
- Password - the password for the secure Telnet connection (set on the CTL web-interface in the Contoller Settings tab);
- Update Time - frequency of requests to equipment (ms.);
- Driver Version - a version of the driver.
3 Right-click on the added WyreStorm driver and add the required number of devices (Add subdevice).
Each device in the settings has a fixed parameter Device type: Decoder, Encoder, Controller.
Decoder and Encoder have an Alias parameter (user name),which is used to refer to a specific sub-device (Alias for sub-devices is set during hardware configuration in the NetworkHD Console).
4 Commands and feedbacks have no additional settings, the types of all commands and feedbacks are described below.
Setting Commands and Feedback
To control equipment it is required to set commands (Commands) and feedback channels (Feedbacks). To send a command, drag'n'drop it on a graphic item and enter a value to send. To display feedback drag'n'drop a feedback channel on a graphic item and choose how to output or display a value.

"Types of graphic items" article.
