HS Server
Technical certificate, instructions for storage, installation and exploitation
The documentation was updated on 15.2.2024
Function and Application
The device is designed for installation in home automation projects, buildings and apartments within the decentralized Bus77 iRidi© network.
It collects, stores, processes and transmits data received via network and field interfaces.
The functionality depends on the applied software and license.
WARNING. DO NOT use a normal KNX power supply for new HS servers, this may cause the server to break down! Always use a 24V DC power supply; higher voltages are not allowed!
Replacing iRidium server UMC C3 with HS Server
For safety transfer from the iRidium server UMC C3 platform to the HS Server as a hardware platform consider the following features:
1. The structure of the physical interfaces has changed by default
By default the iRidium server UMC C3 included an RS-232 interface (without galvanic isolation) and other physical interfaces had to be purchased separately. With the large set of interfaces included in the HS Server it may not be necessary to buy additional equipment:
- RS-485 (with galvanic isolation)
- RS-232 (with galvanic isolation)
- KNX TP1-256
- CAN (Bus77)
In the iRidium server UMC C3 you could use two RS-232 ports at the same time: without galvanic isolation was by default and you could buy another one with galvanic isolation. With the HS Server you need to plan how you will connect a second device, as there is only one RS-232 interface on board.
2. The power terminal order is different from the iRidium server UMC C3, please check the connection to avoid damaging the server!
Be sure to check the correct connection before starting, if you suddenly connect it «automatically».
3. RS-485 connector terminals moved to the upper terminal block and now the terminals for connecting the CAN bus are in their place
If you use RS-485 or CAN bus in your installation, connect the buses according to the markings on the device's case.
4. The power supply voltage and power consumption have changed (by a factor it is 12 times more than it was in the iRidium server UMC C3!)
Make sure that the power supply is according to the specifications as you usual put in the project:
- The power supply voltage for UMC is 24-30 VDC, for the HS server it's 24 VDC - higher is not recommended.
- The power consumption for UMC is 2.5 watts, for the HS server it's 30 watts.

Buttons:
- RESET - holding the button for more than 5 seconds restarts the device.
- PROG - holding the button during system startup puts the device into recovery mode. Holding in the recovery mode resets network settings and deletes iRidium Server documents.
LED:
- KNX IN - displays incoming packets.
- KNX OUT - displays outgoing packets.
- SYS - indicates the mode in which the server is operating. This is the system RGB LED.
- Red - indicates the system is loading or waiting to be loaded
- Blue - indicates the system is in recovery mode
- Green - indicates the system is in operation mode
Features
IP address of the device by default 192.168.77.77
MAC address of the device starts with 42-77-66-xx-xx-xx
Power connection
1 Connect HS Server controller to the local network with a PC and a router with the help of Ethernet-cable to LAN port. Supply 24 V power. Wait for about 30 seconds after the power supply, a green LED must be lit.
DHCP-server must be active on the router. In case of an error in obtaining an ip address, a static address is set: 192.168.77.77.
Reset to Default Settings
To reset the HS Server controller to factory settings you must perform the following steps.
1 Press the Prog
button on the turned off controller.
2 Holding the Prog
button, supply power to the controller.
3 Hold the button Prog
.
4 When the LED starts flashing, changing its color, release the Prog
button.
5 After it the controller has default settings: automatic getting the IP address via DHCP is activated.
After resetting to defaults, all documents of the iRidium Server application will be deleted.
Setting up for HS Server
The HS Server controller is used in different iRidi products, so the manuals for operation and settings will differ:
