iRidi Licensing Policy

how to select, buy and start using iRidi products

iRidi licenses can be bought and activated only with the help of the iRidi Cloud
The service is available only for integrators registered on the iRidi web site.
Licenses are stored in iRidi Cloud from where they are uploaded into the i3 pro application on iOS, Android, Windows, Mac.

Non-commercial Use

Register on the iRidi web site to use iRidi in the test mode, for training purposes and for setting up iRidi before buying licenses. There are 2 types of test licenses:Test mode and Trial (see more below)

Testing by an integrator or DIY-user (test mode)

Testing on panels

Each integrator and DIY-user has a certain number of panels to test projects.

A DIY-user is considered an integrator, with a limited number of test panels. If such a user made a project and bought a commercial license for it, then he must register himself and the other users of the project as end users and invite them to use the project.

Do not share a control panel authorized under your account with an end-user. Each end-user must be authorized under his own account.

When you authorize under your account on a control panel, this panel is registered as a test one in the cloud. Each integrator has 25 test panels. Each DIY-user has 2 test panels. In case the limit of test panels is exceeded and an integrator is trying to authorize on one more panel, an integrator see the error message: Panel limit of i3 pro is exceed.

The Test mode turns on automatically when you authorize in i3 Pro. The Test mode has limited working time: 5 minutes of i3 Pro continuous work for integrators with "Bronze" status and 20 minutes + the "Developer's panel" mode on 2 control panels for integrators with "Silver" status.

The Developer's panel mode removes the time limit of continuous work for 2 panels.

Testing on a server

The Test mode for a server is 7 days of iRidi Server continuous work. It can be activated on 2 servers at a time. Every 7 days the server will delete the database and the configuration project. At each project update the 7-days countdown starts again.

To activate the Test mode on a panel or server, press the Emulator button or upload a project to a device via Send to Transfer (read more here).

The remaining runtime of the Test mode can be tracked in i3 pro and it will be displayed in red at the top of the project. To prolong the Test mode, restart the i3 pro application.

Testing by an end-user (trial)

To test the projects on end-users' devices use the Trial Mode in iRidi Cloud. It allows end-users to test projects for 60 days in i3 pro and iRidi Server.

The "Silver" dealer status gives you a possibility to provide iRidi for your client in the Trial mode.

You can't prolong the trial period, but it is available for any new object in the cloud. At the end of the trial period, the customer decides to purchase an iRidi license.

To activate the Trial mode, go to iRidi Cloud and select the required object to test. Press the Get trial period (2 month) button in the Licenses tab.

Users that are invited to control the project can test the project in the Trial mode.

Do not share a control panel authorized under your account with an end-user. Each end-user must be authorized under his own account.

After activating the Trial mode, the time countdown of the project work will start. You can track it using the red inscription on a control panel or in the integrator personal account.

Commercial Use

A license is paid for only once and used on one automation project. There are no monthly/yearly payments.

iRidi commercial use is available for users with different registration statuses. Commercial use means use of iRidi licenses.

iRidi licenses work without limitations in time and have a set of supported functions which defines the license price.

To use a commercial license, create an object in iRidi cloud (the My projects section). Licenses are purchased for particular objects and enable their continuous work.

After setting, a license allows panels and one server to work on the object. The number of panels is specified in the license.

License Selection

You can see the price of licenses in the license catalogue on the website. The price depends on the following parameters:
1 Object configuration: with or without iRidium Server. iRidium Server is not required, but if you want to display graphs, send data between different systems and connect a lot of panels to the equipment, iRidium Server is required. Based on this choose if you use visualization or visualization with a server.
2 Type of a license. There are 4 types of licenses for each object configuration (with or without a server).

  Tags are feedback channels of all drivers added in the server project and internal server variables. You can use no server in your installation, in this case tags are not required. When a server is used in the installation, the number of tags can be calculated based on the technical specifications, or approximately: 1 sq.m. of object area = 1 server tag

If you need a license for objects with Air-Gapped Networks without access to the Internet and iRidi Cloud, use an offline license. To activate an iRidi Server offline license, you need to use software-hardware license key that allows the server to work without connection to iRidi Cloud. You can find detailed information in the instructions to Offline licensing.

Purchase and Activation

You can purchase a license online and assign it to the automation object right away or later.

Before purchasing you work with iRidi locally, projects are uploaded to control panels via iRidi Transfer. The Test mode activates for free.

If you need to use a commercial license, iRidi Transfer is not suitable. You should upload projects to iRidi Cloud. Projects which you want to show to a customer, are stored in iRidi Cloud.

Authorize on the iRidi web site to start work with iRidi Cloud. Go to the My account section, the My projects tab.

1 Create a folder and an object.

You can systemize projects of different end-users with the help of folders and objects:

• A folder holds several automation objects by some common feature (for example, the same end-user)
• An object holds projects, users and the license used on one automation object (for example, a house or an office).
  Add projects and accounts only of one customer to one object. Create separate objects for different customers.
  License selection and invitation of end-users to an automation object are available via your My account section in the cloud.

2 Upload projects from PC

iRidi projects are files for launching visualization in the i3 pro application (*.irpz) and if there are any, projects for iRidi Server (*.sirpz). Projects are created by integrators of automation systems and uploads them in the cloud when they are completed.
If there is a license (see how to add it in the object below), visualization projects can be uploaded on the end-user's control panels.

Keep in mind that the Enterprise+ license has limitations for the number of projects which can be uploaded on the licensed object.

3 Select the suitable license.

You can assign a license to the created object in the Licenses tab. An object without an assigned license is not working and is not displayed in i3 Pro.

1. Create license. In this window you can use a built-in calculator of licenses for a object and pay for a license on-line. After the payment, you'll get the license key to your e-mail.

2. Choose from paid licenses. If you have a paid license on your account, you can assign it to your object in this window. One license can be assigned to one automation object.

3. Activate by code. If you have a license key, you can activate it in this window. You get a license key together with the purchased equipment (you find it on the back cover of the device) or you buy a license key on-line (step 1).

When the license is assigned to the object, it cannot be transferred to another object! But you can add functions to it.

After you assign the license, the object will be available for testing on control panels for you as an integrator. To start testing log in to the app using your username and password and download the project to your panel (step 5).

4 Invite end-users.

Invite end-users to control the visualization object. There are two ways to add a user to an object:

1. Invite - send a request by e-mail. In this case the user confirms the creation of the account, chooses a password and sets account data in the iRidi website. You can invite the user in the "Users and panels" tab.

2. Create an account - fill in account data of the user, choose a password. In this case the user gets an e-mail that the account has been created, the user can decline it. This way is better to use when users do not have an opportunity to help you with the initial setting i3 pro.

You can't invite the user to the project, if the user is already registered on iRidi website as an integrator or DIY.

Ask the user to authorize in i3 Pro with his login and password and download the project. When the project is being downloaded, the panel is registered in the cloud, receives a license and appears in the list of “Active panels”. You can delete a panel from this list to clear space for another control panel (for example, to replace a broken one).

If you use a server, upload your project to a server (step 5).

5 Upload projects on control panels and the server

5.1 To download the visualization project (*.irpz) on a smart phone, tablet or PC, the invited user has to authorize in i3 pro on the corresponding device:

1. The project developer invites users by email
2. The user follows the link in the invitation email and selects the password for accessing i3 pro
3. The user authorizes in i3 pro and sees the project to which he is invited.
   If there are several projects, the navigation between them is performed via Projects menu. It can be opened on the tablet or smart phone by the left-to-right swipe on the screen (click F7 on Windows). The menu shows the projects available to the user .
   The user can log out of the account in the Settings tab to clear space for another control panel (deactivate the license) and delete all projects from the panel

Do not give your login and password for the test to users, otherwise they will see all your objects and have access to them!

5.2 The server receives the license and the project from the cloud but the developer (integrator) NOT the user must authorize on the server using the login and password on the iRidi web site. Launch the server, open the web-interface (see the instruction to your server platform) and activate the server:

1. Input the login and password of the integrator account where you created the object with the server project
2. Select the service password to access the server settings. It is 2007 by default.
3. Then you will see the list of objects and server projects. Select the project which has to work on the server and click on it to download (miss this step if you have not used the cloud before).
4. In the server web-interface (the Cloud tab) you can download a project to the server (Projects) or deactivate the server (Deactivate Server). You can upload projects from iRidi Transfer to the server with the activated Test Mode.

If there are no server projects in the cloud during authorization, you can upload them later in the server web interface (step 2).

Adding new functions and upgrading a license

You can update your project that is uploaded to the cloud. You can add new drivers, items, tokens etc. To update a project:

1 Select a project which you want to replace in the Projects tab. Drag'n'drop it to the Upload new project version window or select it by pressing on the window.

2 Pay for the changes of the license if you have added new drivers or the number of server tags has exceeded the number allowed for your license. To do it, upgrade the license in the Licenses > Upgrade license tab.

If you purchase iRidi wall panels (Touch Panel P6/P8/P10), you get a free starter license which you can't upgrade. You can purchase a new license in the personal account or in the catalog.

3 Synchronize the server with the cloud by pressing the CLOUD SYNC button in the CLOUD tab of the server web-interface.

4 Upload new projects to all panels within 24 hours, even if you haven't updated your license. Within 24 hours, the cloud service compares the projects on the panels and in the cloud, and if they do not match, it disables control on those panels on which outdated projects remain.

Control of panels in objects with a commercial license

After a commercial license is activated in an object, end-users can control their project from the number of panels (smartphones and tablets) that is indicated in the license. You can see the number of panels in your license in the MY LICENSES or MY PROJECT tabs in the personal account

Each authorization on a panel reduces the number of free slots in the license, that is, each new panel reserves a definite slot in the list of available slots for this type of a license. You can see the number of all connected panels and free slots in the MY PROJECT > Users and Panels > Activated Panels tab:

In case the limit of panels in a license is exceeded, a project is downloaded to the panel but devices can't be controlled and a user sees an error message No license found. There will be no connections to ANY equipment. To connect this project to equipment, free a slot in the license by deauthorizing one of the panels that was connected earlier (deleting a panel from the list of activated panels).

Deleting a panel from the list of activated panels

To delete a panel from the list of activated ones and get a chance to connect a new panel, it is required to deauthorize (log out) from the account in the visualization app installed on this panel. To do it:
1 Go to the system menu of the visualization app on the panel that must be deleted (Ctrl+F8 or a swipe from left to right);
2 Log out from your account. When an account is logged out, the cloud frees the slot that was taken by this panel.

Deleting a panel If there is no access to it

Attention. This is an emergency way to change a panel. It can be used to delete 1 panel in 15 days. iRidi company does not deactivate panels, as it goes against the licensing policy. But if there is an error or some other problem, you can write us at contact@iridi.com

If you can't log out from the account in the app (a panel is lost or damaged), 1 panel in 15 days can be deleted manually in object settings in My account. To do it:

1 Go to the MY PROJECT > Users and Panels tab of your object.

2 Find a panel that you can't log out from manually in the Activated Panels section.

3 Click on the cross next to the required panel, and the panel will be deleted from the list of activated ones.

Giving ownership rights of the object to an end-user

After a project is created, set and tested, an integrator can give ownership rights for the object with all panel projects to an end-user (customer), another integrator or a DIY-user.

It can be done by sending a request to our technical support at support@iridi.com.

A request must contain the following information:

• The login of the current owner of a license;
• The license key;
• The login of an end-user (to whom a project is given).

The request must be written from the e-mail of the current owner of the license. If the current owner of the license is an employee of a company, the license belongs to the company, that's why a request must be written from the e-mail of the company administrator.

Giving ownership rights

To another integrator or DIY

1. If a license is not assigned to an object, the request must contain the login of the current owner of the license, a license key, and the login of an integrator who the object is given to. The request must be written from the e-mail of the current owner of the license.
2. If a license is assigned to an object, it will be moved with object.
3. If a server is used in an object, before sending a request, the server must be deactivated through the web-interface. After the object is moved, the server must be activated again in the account of the new owner and a project must be uploaded on the server.
4. If the customer does not want to upload projects to the server himself, then after authorization on the server he can set a service password for the web interface and share it with you. This way, you don't know his account information, but you will be able to continue working with the server.

After a server is deactivated, an end-user can not control equipment until the server is activated in the account of the new owner.

After the ownership rights are given to another person, the projects are no longer available for editing for the previous owner as they are deleted from his account.

An integrator can not get this object back on his own. Only a new owner can return the ownership rights to a previous integrator by sending a request to iRidi technical support.

To an end-user (customer)

After a project is created, set and tested, an integrator can give ownership rights for the object with all panel projects to an end-user (customer). After an object is moved, an end-user can authorize in a special account and invite other end-users. But editing a project is not available.

An end-user can be given ownership rights for an object with a purchased commercial license only if NO server is used in a project.

After the ownership rights are given to another person, the projects are no longer available for editing for the previous owner as they are deleted from his account.

If a server is used in the project or a customer needs to edit the project, a customer must create a DIY account on iRidi website with another e-mail. In this case the project will be moved like to another integrator or DIY ( see above).

FAQ

Cost and functions of a license:

1. There are several types of licenses with fixed number of supported control panels and server tags. You determine the set of drivers and add-ons for the selected tariff according to your needs.
2. It is not required to assign a license to an object immediately. You can buy a license by requesting an invoice and use when it is required by choosing it from the list of purchased licenses.
3. The same license is uploaded from iRidi Cloud to the i3Pro app and iRidi Server. It is not required to purchase a separate license for iRidi Server.
4. You can add new functions to the purchased license in the My projects > Licenses tab.
5. The number of server tags is calculated as the sum of tags in all *.sirpz projects uploaded to the cloud. You can increase the number by switching to another license.
6. You can calculate how many server tags will be enough for your project based on the technical specifications (count the feedback data that you want to see on the control panels). Approximately, you can count the number of tags enough for your project by taking into account that 1 sq.m. of object area = 1 server tag.

Log in and log out from the account:

1. An integrator uses his login and password from iRidi website to authorize in apps.
2. The invited user uses as a login the email to which the invitation was sent to use the cloud object.
3. If the user has reached the limit on connected control panels, he will be able to log in to the device, but will not be able to download the project.
4. To free a slot in the list of panels, limited by the selected license, log out from the account in i3 Pro.
5. You can log out from the account in the Projects menu of i3 Pro. To open the Projects menu, swipe from left to right on your tablet or smartphone screen or press F7 on Windows PC. Then go to the Setting tab and click the Logout button.
6. If a panel was lost or broken, you can deauthorize from it in the cloud. To do it, go to the My projects > Users and panels section.
7. IMPORTANT: do not authorize in other people's devices with your login and password. If you do it, all your projects in iRidi Cloud will be available in this device.

Differentiation of user rights:

1. The owner of the object in the cloud can invite users.
2. You can invite users only if you have a license or trial period (60 days).
3. If you opened access to the project to the user and indicated the "User" status, your other objects and projects will not be available for him.
4. The user with the "Admin" status has access to all projects of the object where he is invited .
5. The owner of the account can see projects from any object in the cloud which he created.
6. If the user's e-mail address is indicated in several objects, the user will have access to all projects opened for him.

Switch from V2 to V3:

1. If you have an iRidi V2 license which was already activated you cannot switch it to a new iRidi V3 license. You have to buy a new license.
2. Visualization projects of iRidi V2 can be used in iRidi V3 after converting them in iRidi Studio.
3. To use Emulator in iRidi Studio, authorize in it using the login and password from the iRidi website.
